Individual personal study and tuition is the most effective way to progress in an understanding of Buddhist practice.  For those who simply wish to dip their toes in the water, or for whom travel restrictions limit the opportunity to attend events in person, there is the Aro gTér Meditation site, where a free online structured meditation course is provided, that can be undertaken entirely in the comfort of your own home.  It is also possible to develop an appreciation of the tradition from the various websites of the Aro gTér, which can be linked to from the Links page.

They are also part of the college of  teaching students of the Aro gTér lineage holders Ngak'chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen.  Each of this college of teachers has a broad base of experience and understanding of the core teachings of the lineage, but even a small family lineage like the Aro gTér has a vast range of specialist practices.  The college structure enables teachers like Shé-zér and Namgyal to specialize and develop in depth personal understanding of individual practices, and they encourage their students to also attend events with the lineage holders, and also other members of the teaching college of senior students of Ngak'chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen.

Teachers from the Aro gTér tradition follow the model laid day during the first spread of Vajrayana Buddhism throughout the Himalayan countries, where small groups of personal students gather to engage in study and practice around a teacher or teaching couple.  In the last few hundred years the model in Vajrayana in general has moved more towards massive teaching events, with teachers having students in the thousands or tens of thousands.  Whilst this does provide the benefit of a greater reach for the teachings, the advantage of the traditional, smaller scale model is that teachers and their students can really get to know one  another in the same manner that is possible with family and close friends.  This enables greater levels of contact and detailed advice based on shared experience, which is impossible in the larger setting.
